20 Awesome Worship Songs to Use in 2020

Rather watch this blog? We'll do the scrolling for you!

If your praise band or worship team is looking for new worship music to use in 2020, you have stumbled upon the right site! Also, if you enjoy belting out worship music in the privacy of your vehicle and you want new options for music, you're in the right place as well.
The list below contains both fresh and seasoned music, and the common bond in them is a modern style. Each song would also stand strong just by lyrics alone. Let the knowledge of our God bring us to emotion, rather than seeking emotion in song for worship. Strong lyrics remind us of who God is. Here is our list of 20 awesome worship songs to use in 2020, as well as our reason for choosing them:

"Yet Not I but Through Christ in Me"

This is a powerfully written song that focuses on Christ's work in us rather than our own merit. It's not surprising that such strong lyrics are found here. CityAlight was recommended by Tim Challies in this article. We'll talk more about their strong writing process later.

"All Creatures of Our God and King"
Norton Hall Band

A modern kind of take on an excellent hymn written by William Henry Draper, but don't worry, they didn't alter it beyond recognition. In fact, their talent and build up sets this version of the song apart from others. As far as lyrics go, anyone who uses an opening line again later, in a clever way, is a genius. Take a listen and you'll see what I mean. (hint: "then who shall fall on bended knee?...")

BONUS:"Doxology" comes in at the end of this one.

"All I Have is Christ"
Sovereign Grace Music

This one is packed with strong lyrics like:
"And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still".

"Only a Holy God"

"Only a Holy God" is one that always gets stuck in my head. You'll know why when you hear it. Worship music is something great to play over and over in your head throughout the day!

"How Firm a Foundation"
Norton Hall Band

Another great hymn in a great modern style with the band from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

"His Mercy is More"
Matt Boswell
& Matt Papa

"Our sins, they are many, His mercy is more!" Such a solid truth to proclaim!

"There is a Fountain"

The original writer, William Cowper, wrote one of the best lines in hymn history. It's toward the end. I'll let you find it. Enfield knocked this one out of the park musically.

"Holy, Holy, Holy"
Norton Hall Band

A beautiful song that nearly everyone knows.

"Be a Lamp"
Norton Hall Band

Written by Kha Do, this is a great duet for your worship team.

Check out CityAlight's explanation of how they put this song together. It's very encouraging to see a group go about creating music to worship God in this way.

"Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor"
Matt Boswell

More strong lyrics:
"Christ the sure of our salvation,
Ever faithful, ever true!
We will hold fast to the anchor,
It shall never be removed."

"My Hope is Built/The Solid Rock"
Norton Hall Band

Singing two hymns with one Cornerstone.

"Behold Our God"
Sovereign Grace Music

Just hit that play button. This song is full of solid theology. "Nothing can compare, come let us adore Him!"

"Christ is Mine Forevermore"

The Aussies are back at it again. You'll be blessed.

"Before the Throne of God Above"
Sovereign Grace Music
(feat. Kristyn Getty)

One of the greatest hymns done wonderfully by Sovereign Grace and Kristyn Getty.

"He Will Hold Me Fast"
Norton Hall Band

"For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast!”

"Jesus, Strong and Kind"

Here is a song you could sing with any age range. You'll notice children in this song. It's simple yet profound. This one will make you think.

"Turn Your Eyes"
Sovereign Grace Music

This is a pretty new song by Sovereign Grace Music with an added chorus that accompanies the song well, which is tough to do!

"Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery"
Matt Boswell
& Matt Papa

Does the title alone make you want to see what it's about? It did for me. May this one be a mystery to you no more.

"Magnificent, Marvelous, Matchless Love"
Matt Boswell
& Matt Papa

"How great, how sure
His love endures

May we worship our God in spirit and truth! He is worthy!
